how does he do it? 1. Gen 3:1 Satan plants the seed into Eves mind to just question Gods Word 2. Gen 3:2 Eve Adds to Gods Word weakening the Word in her own life. Any time you add to or take away from Gods Word you (1) weaken the influence of the Word in your life 3. Gen 3:3 Because she questioned Gods Word, weakened the Word of God by making it into a lukewarm statement She then hung around the devils crowd instead of Gods crowd. (1) She is hanging around the devil instead of God (2) she is listening to the devil instead of God (3) she is being influenced by the devil instead of God. (4) Summarized; she is running with the devils crowd instead of the heavenly crowd. 4. Verse 5 Be her own God, I will be like god, not having to give an account to anyone. Do you see how all this is coming about: Everything so far has led Eve to think that she does NOT have to give an account to God 5. Verse 6 "It was pleasant to the eyes" Because she questioned Gods Word She looked at the very thing that would ruin her life but did not see it as sin an longer. She had become blinded to that which would eventually be her own and mankind's destruction. Many today are blind to their own sinful ways. The no longer look at what they are doing as being wrong. They see like Eve, they see the TREE but not the sin. 6. Verse 6 She began to justify it. Since she no longer could see the sin, she tried to justify eating the fruit because it was "good for food." Illustration: Many today try to justify their rebellion to God by saying, Well it is for a good cause. Or I cant do this or that, even though the Bible commands me to do that, because I have job. I have to earn money for my family so that is why I am working three jobs now Problem is you are working to earn the money for the family but you wind up spending your whole life working for money and never knowing your family. They grow up with out you. So we justify what we are doing. We do the same when it comes to practicing Gods Word in our lives. We are always justifying why we are not obeying God. We no longer look at our rebellion to Gods ways as sin in our lives. 7. Verse 6 Many today think they are better off NOT living for God, NOT living by Gods Word NOT obeying God than if they did. 8. Verse 6 She chose to do it, no body made her it was of her own free will. No
one was to blame but her. 9. Verse 6 Bible tells us she gave to her husband to eat. SELFISH SELFISH SELFISH BLIND BLIND BLIND She had become so hard hearted in such a short amount of time that she had NO compassion for her own husband 10. Verse 6 Sin always duplicated itself and spreads to others like a cancer 11. Verse 8 Their eyes were opened ( they quickly felt the sting of sin and now regretted what they had done) The excitement of sinning was gone, the horror that they had done wrong was before them, their eyes were wide open. Many today are living with regrets of the past. The sin of a youth for many has lasted
a life time. 12. BOTH their eyes were opened. Sin does not play favorites. The results of sin will be the same for everyone, ALL will regret their rebellion to God when they know that soon they will have to meet God and give an account for their lives. They were naked, They could see that the presence of God was no longer a covering for their life. The holiness ( light) that once engulfed them was now gone, They walked in darkness. The light of God no longer shown from them. THEY WERE NAKED WITH OUT THE presence of God on their lives. Like many today, sin has stripped away everything in our lives that might
resemble God. 13. They sewed fig leaves together to try to cover up their sin, and made themselves aprons. Like many today, we know we are not living our lives according to what God wants to we cloth ourselves in religion, good works, monuments of us in order to hide our sinful lives, etc...... But all their work and yet they were still naked, even with the fig leaves. No matter how fancy the leaves were that they had sown, they knew, they knew, they
knew, they were naked on the inside. 14. Verse 8 The heard the voice of God Thank God that God does not give up on us. In their sinful state Jesus comes to
them. That is why many dont go to church, dont come to the altars, dont get things right in there lives because they know they are naked before God --- so they hide from God. 15. Verse 8 they hid amongst the trees of the garden. Many today hide in the very world that they found sin in, thinking that if they just get lost in the trees of life that maybe God will go away. 16. But God loves us so much that He doesnt just call us, He wants us to know that SIN had effected us, WHERE ART THOU? We have to see the sin in our lives before Christ can help us. Verse 10 I heard thy voice and was afraid because I was naked.... and I hid myself. It wasn't until Adam was ready to talk with God and admit his sin to God that Christ could help him. Verse 11 Jesus reminds Adam of Jesus words. Hast thou eaten? All of their excuse, you gave me the woman, or the serpent did it, will not hold up with God. They tried to blame everyone else but God held them each accountable for their OWN rebellion. God curses the serpent and Satan Verses 14-15 God even tells Satan the He will use woman to bring a Saviour into the word that will one day destroy Satan. God curses the woman with greater sorrows in child birth verse 16 God curses man Verse 17,18,19 God uses one verse for womans curse and three verses for mans curse, because man is going to be accountable to God for his family. Last of ALL: God showed them that their only hope was a Saviour. Verses 15 & 20 Her name was changed from Woman to EVE Eve = mother of all living. Even thou Adam and Eve were living as spirit dead humans, Christ would bring new life back into their lives, that through the birth of a Saviour, mankind would once again live with God. From the land of the Dead (living without God) back to the land of the LIVING (living with GOD). Why not let God bring you back into a sweet fellowship with Him. God gave them a way to make things right Verses 20-21 OUR LAST THOUGHT FROM THIS TEACHING: It is better to have to live with the consequences of our sin rather than the condemnation of our sins.
