Preach SN 06/04/2000 Dr. Rickey Honea,
Th.D.
“DEAD SHEEP DON’T BLEAT”
1 Sam 15:14 And Samuel said, WHAT MEANETH THEN THIS BLEATING OF THE SHEEP IN
MINE EARS, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
This evening I wish to preach on “The Bleating Of A Defective
Life” ...
What is it in your life that is “COSTING YOU GOD’S PRESENCE”
SAMSON:
Judg 16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson.
And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times
before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD WAS DEPARTED FROM HIM.
I. SAUL’S DANGEROUS DECISION.
1 Sam 15:1-3 Vr#3 “Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly
destroy ALL that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman,
infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.”
(a). Saul Was To Utterly Destroy.
1 Sam 15:3 “Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all
that they have,...”
UTTERLY = “ to exterminate, to completely destroy”
After we get saved, God's Word instructs us to destroy the
rebellious things -the sinful things in our live, but if we hang on to just
one of the old sinful ways, sinful thoughts, that sin will soon take us down.
(b). Saul’s Unfaithful Dispose.
1 Sam 15:9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of
the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that
was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile
and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
1. Saul was to Dispose, and eliminate Agag and the
Amalekites.
2. A Defective Life always LEADS to REBELLION and turns us into
a RELIGIOUS DECEIVER.
1 Sam 15:13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him,
Blessed be thou of the LORD: I HAVE PERFORMED the COMMANDMENT OF THE LORD.
Matt 23:3 “Say and do not”
Oh, how we brag on our religious actions even though SIN is
still in our lives.
We so easily deceive ourselves in order to cover our sinful life's.
POINT: If fig leaves would not work then to cover sin neither will our
religious fig leaves work today.
3. Saul Said... “Blessed Be Thou” .. Sin is Horrible,
Cultured Sin, Religious Sin,
We condemn the sins of the {White House - yet we over look the
sins in God's house}
Non tithing, gossip, slander, lying, etc....
4. The Grab Of Religion. (a) It’s Not KNOWING ABOUT Jesus,
... But Do YOU KNOW HIM!
Matt 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU:
depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom YE YIELD YOURSELVES SERVANTS
TO OBEY, his servants ye are to WHOM YE OBEY; whether of sin unto death, or of
obedience unto righteousness?
II. SAUL’S DEFECTIVE DISCIPLESHIP.
1 Sam 15:20 And SAUL SAID unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the
voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD SENT ME, and have
brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have UTTERLY DESTROYED THE AMALEKITES.
(a). Notice What Saul Has Said.
And Saul Said...... “Yea, I have OBEYED the VOICE of the
LORD, and have gone THE WAY which the LORD SENT ME, and have brought Agag and
King Of Amelek, and have UTTERLY DESTROYED THE AMALEKITES.
1. Saul Has STOPPED Being SENSITIVE To SIN and LYING ..
blaming .. People.
1 Sam 15:21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen,
THE CHIEF OF THE THINGS which SHOULD HAVE BEEN UTTERLY DESTROYED, to sacrifice
unto the LORD thy God in Gulag.
(b). Notice What Samuel Said.
1 Sam 15:14 ;16 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this
BLEATING of the SHEEP in mine EARS, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
(Dead Sheep Don’t Bleat)
1 Sam 15:16 Then SAMUEL SAID UNTO SAUL, ... STAY= “be
still”, ... and I WILL TELL THEE WHAT THE LORD HATH SAID TO ME THIS NIGHT.
And he said unto him, Say on. ..... {Psa 46:10 ... “be still and KNOW that I
AM GOD”}
1. All The Time You Are Lying Your Sheep Are Bleating.
Your sin will bleat out in your life, exposing what is
really going on in your heart.
1 Sam 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as GREAT DELIGHT in
BURNT
OFFERINGS and SACRIFICES, as in OBEYING THE VOICE of the LORD?
Behold, to OBEY IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE, and to HEARKEN than the fat of rams.
III. THE DEMANDING DECLARATION.
1 Sam 15:24-26 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I
have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I FEARED
THE PEOPLE, and OBEYED THEIR VOICE. Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin,
and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD. And Samuel said unto
Saul, I will not return with thee: for THOU HAST REJECTED THE WORD of the
LORD, and the LORD hath REJECTED THEE from being king over Israel.
1. Saul You Feared The People. You listened to their voice instead of the
voice of God.
ILL: The Voice Of The People.. voice of the dope
calling you, liquor, sex,...etc.
2. You Knew What The Lord Wanted You To Do but you flat
disobeyed HIM.
3. The Tide Of The Majority overwhelmed you -
4. The Spirit Of The Age is to rebel not obey.
5. Oh But ...... “The Sheep Must Be Killed” Bring all your
Bleating Sheep To Jesus. gossip, slander, angry words, sharp tongue and Live
for Jesus!
Make your life count.
If the sheep are dead they can not bleep.
If you have forsaken or become dead to the sin in your life
it will not bleep.
But if you flesh is still crying out ( bleeping ) for the old life then that
area of your life is not dead to you yet.
Ask God to help you to crucify that sinful habit. Give it to
God right now.
